Spirit is not a dirty word

Modern people often neglect the spiritual aspect of their lives. But the Spirit is so important for health, happiness and well being.

Through my practice of Qigong I began to realise that nurturing my Spirit had a powerful, beneficial affect on my health and happiness. This troubled me because I was very ‘anti’ religion and I lumped Spirituality and religion together.

Fortunately through talking with my fellow Qigong students I came to learn that there is a big difference between spirituality and religion. Anything that allows you to get in touch with your inner self – meditation, listening to music, reading, walking, flying a kite – can be spiritual.

There is no wrong or right here – this part of your life can only be defined by you.

From the TCM perspective Spirit is attributed to Shen. If Shen is weak then Qi and Jing (the energetic and the physical) will also be weak.

Don’t neglect your Spirit, take time each and every day to nurture this aspect of you and Qigong is a very powerful tool for this purpose.

Spirit is very important because, I believe, that our true nature is spiritual. Qigong is a way to develop that spirituality. When I do qigong and feel the energy flow through me I understand that this is one of the ways that my true spiritual nature manifests itself. That’s why qigong is beautiful.
